Why are these caps called Trucker?

In the 1950s, the ESSO company and the Shell company had a big dispute over the trucker market, who wanted them to refuel at their stations.

What did ESSO do? He thought, I'm going to give every trucker who comes a cap with my company logo. But the difference was in the creation of the back of the cap, I created a net or mesh, because the trucks of that time did not have air conditioning and the temperatures were unbearable.
