The beginnings: a brand born in Denmark
ECCO was founded in 1963 by Karl Toosbuy , a young Danish shoemaker who decided to leave his job in Copenhagen to pursue his dream: to create his own footwear brand. He moved with his family to Bredebro, a small town in southern Denmark, where he established ECCO's first factory. From the beginning, his vision was clear: to make shoes that fit the foot, rather than forcing the foot to fit the shoe.
