The 57/40 is the answer to a simple question, albeit on an astronomical scale. What would happen if we revamped the 574: the most typical New Balance shoe of all time? Despite its legacy of simple, unassuming versatility, the original 574 featured a unique design for its time, a hybrid road/trail format that didn't rely on visible technical elements. The 57/40 adopts this hybrid concept, which, added to a few more years of design advances, manages to give this emblematic design a new perspective. A more aerodynamic silhouette thanks to its slimmer last with various extravagant elements. The signature midsole combines a wider version of the classic 574 with '90s-inspired technical details. The guards and eyelets feature '80s signature wavy designs.

HOW CAN I CLEAN MY SNEAKERS?

• The recommended cleaning method for New Balance shoes is to use a soft bristle brush (an old toothbrush) and a light detergent (dishwasher or laundry). Scrub the shoes with the brush and use a damp cloth to clean. Let the shoes air dry for about twenty-four hours. If you buy a cleaning product, make sure it is silicone-based to prevent any possible damage to the shoe. It is NOT recommended to wash the shoes in the washing machine. **If the shoes are made of suede or leather, you must use a cleaning product for suede or leather. Follow the instructions for the brand of cleaning product you are going to use to clean your shoes.
